Bye-Bye flu!

Finally! All the kids are well and back in school. About two weeks ago Courtney came home from school with a slight fever and felt blah. She missed two days of school. Then Cassie starts feeling sick and has fever and misses the next three days of school. I buy what Cass calls a nerd pack (antibacterial soap, hand sanitizer, Lysol spray and wipes and tissues) hoping to keep this bug from spreading to the rest of us. No luck, Tuesday Connor gets out of the van to head over to practice and says, "Mom, just take me home." I pull him close to talk to him and he's burning up. We go home to find that his temp is 103.7. He is sick the next 6 days and Cass is still sick and Courtney threatens them both to keep their germs to themselves "or so help them". I called a doctor friend of mine to see if they should see their doctor because of the swine flu going around. She says if they have the flu this early it's most likely the swine flu. Her office is so overwhelmed with people who have the flu that they are telling people to keep their kids at home and treat them as if they had the regular flu. She also said to bring them into the doctor if they seem to develop respiratory problems but thinks they should be OK since they are normally healthy. Sounds good to me. I kept them home, pushed the liquids, Tylenol and Ibuprofen and per Cassie's request, popsicles. Six days later Connor is better but has to be fever free for 48 hours before he can return to school. Cass is going on day 10 of having a low grade fever (off and on). She gets to visit the doctor who says she is fighting two bugs and gave her an antibiotic to help her get rid of the second bug. The doctor says to get her on the meds right away and she can go to school tomorrow (which is today, which is also the end of Connor's 48 hour waiting period)! Whew! Everyone is well and back to school. Wait...is that a tickle I feel in my throat......

Mom! Don't take my picture when I'm not wearing a shirt!

I need some popsicles!

This is why Courtney did not want to get sick again. She is now a Varsity cheer alternate. So, what does that mean? DOUBLE DUTY! She still cheers for JV but also practices with the varsity squad and fills in when a girl is out. She also get to go to competition with the varsity squad.

Glad everyone is doing better. My boyfriend had swine flu not to long ago. Couldn't get out of bed for days.

Congrats Court!
