Courtney opted for a birthday get away this year instead of a big party for her sweet 16. We took her and three friends to Colorado for 4 days. We had to do it a month after her birthday because the girls have fall break now and no one would have to miss school (well, except Amber who doesn't get a fall break. Her parents were so nice to let her miss a few days of school). It was so fun! These are some pretty neat girls. Everyday that we went out, we got compliments on how sweet and good the girls were. Two different people asked if they were sisters and were they all mine. We spent half a day in Telluride. It was cool but not freezing (only patches of snow on the ground and on top of the mountains). This year we rode the gondola into the village at night. We have never taken a nighttime ride before. We also spent a day in Durango. The girls went horseback riding, did some shopping, had lunch, and had an old time saloon picture taken. It's a picture that we'll tuck away for memories not post on the internet. It wasn't that bad. I was hoping they'd go for the "southern belle" look. Two of the girls really wanted to do the saloon look because they wanted to hold the guns, not the frilly, lacey fans. On our last full day in Colorado, we pretty much stayed around the cabin. The girls tie-dyed shirts and pillow cases, made individual collages that represents them, watched movies and had a "birthday party" for Courtney.
We took about 1,000 pictures! I won’t post all of them, but here are some.......

Super fun stuff. Great idea to choose a vacation over a party. We did that for the kids two years ago... Maybe again this year. Colorado is sooooooo beautiful. That is our best vacation to date, just ask our kids. Playing in the creek all day with dad, what could be better! Glad y'all had fun!
look who joined the smilebox club! Wasn't it fun making your scrabook? It is my lame attempt at digital scrapbooking - way less complicated than doing it myself.
The girls are so cute. I'm with Courtney. I'd much rather do something like that than have a party.
Glad you all had fun!
