I can't believe in just a little over two weeks it will be time for school to start. Where did the summer go?
We spent much of our summer at the pool where Cassie was on the swim team and Connor on the dive team. They both did extremely well for this being their first year on team. Cassie ended the year with two silver medals and Connor brought home the gold. They are both anxious to join again next summer. Connor's coaches even suggested he find a year-round pool so he can keep on diving. We'll have to see....he really has his heart set on playing basketball in the fall.
Cassie too has shown an interest in basketball.
Courtney has had a busy summer out of the state and even out of the country. She was able to minister in Carbo, Mexico with some fellow teens from our church. She helped with a vacation bible school and helped host two carnivals in two different villages in Mexico. She had such a good time and looks forward to returning next year. Patrick accompanied Courtney on this trip but unfortunately did not have as much fun as she did. Patrick ended up coming home early due to being so sick. After he was home a few more people from our group got sick too. The village doctor came in and soon everyone was feeling better. Courtney also spent time in Forest Hills, CA at Forest Home Camp. She was able to bring along three of her sweet school friends and they all had a wonderful time. It was unanimous...they all wished camp was longer! Was it the food? The games? The messages? The cute boys? Whichever it was, she looks forward to next year's camp experience.
Our family enjoyed a few days in Prescott where we celebrated the fourth of July. The highlight of our trip was getting shocked while we were trying to hold down our canopy in a 30 minute thunderstorm. After the storm passed the festivities resumed as planned. It was a very fun trip.
We also had a visit from my dad and his family. The girls were able to travel around with them for a couple days. They had a very nice time. It was a short visit but we look forward to visiting with them again in the future.
The next couple of weeks will be filled with back to school shopping. Connor is pretty excited to start kindergarten. Cassie will be in fifth grade and Courtney will be in eighth. Courtney will be on the yearbook staff this year and is pretty excited about that.
Well, that's enough for today! I will try to update this weekly. Until next time....
Jen
