On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me...

Christmas is just around the corner! The tree is up, the lights are up, the Christmas cards have been mailed and the stockings are hung by the...OK, so no chimney here but they are up. Wasn't it Thanksgiving just last week? Yes, it's the most wonderful time of year but it is also the busiest. So what does this family of five do to keep things from getting too hectic during the holidays? NOTHING! As a matter of fact, we must not be busy enough because we signed two of our kids (Cassie and Connor) up for winter sports. Cassie has her first volleyball game tonight and Connors first baseball game is tomorrow. Yes, in Arizona we have a winter baseball league.
It won't be a white Christmas but it has been a wet December so far. We have had two weekends of rain in a row. The kids and daddy loved the rain but mom...not so much. I prefer the spring/summer rain myself (not so cold and awesome monsoon storms). We really needed the rain so we (I) won't complain too much.

With Christmas comes parties. We had our staff party and our church life group party on the same day. Both were fun. This weekend we will be having a party with all the cousins. This is something we started last year to give the parents a night out. Patrick and I have all our nieces and nephews over for a night of Christmas fun. We decorate cookies, make a craft, play a game or two and watch a Christmas movie. We will have 8 kids here. This includes my three, Bert and Bridget's two, but only three of Joel and Mary's kids. The twins are still a bit small and as much fun as it would be to let them have at it with the frosting and sprinkles, I think we will wait till they are a bit older to have them join the fun. Grandma Donna will keep the twins so mom and dad can still have a "no kid" date night. It's fun to have the cousins all together.

Well, as hectic as things may get, we still focus on the reason for the season! As we celebrate our Saviors birth we are are truly thankful for the best gift of all. A Son that was born for us, to die for us, so we can one day live with Him. Knowing and sharing this love is how we can get through this hectic season!

We hope you all have a very Merry Christmas. I look forward to hearing wonderful things about your new year!
